  • Winter 2026-2027: A Wave of New Offerings Sweeps Across Air Transat’s Network to the South and Europe

    • Costa Rica now accessible non-stop from Quebec City
    • Addition of an exclusive route between Toronto and Martinique
    • Two flagship European routes now offered year-round: Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona
    • Expanded sun destination offering from London and Charlottetown
    • Return to Florida from Montreal, Quebec City, and Halifax

MONTREAL, April 17, 2026 /CNW/ – Air Transat today begins unveiling its 2026-2027 winter program with the announcement of four new routes – Quebec City–San José, Toronto–Fort-de-France, London–Puerto Plata, and Charlottetown–Punta Cana – as well as the expansion of the Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona routes to year-round service. This first phase highlights attractive additions to sun destinations and the strengthening of the airline’s transatlantic offering.

“Demand for sun destinations remains strong, and Transat’s recognized expertise in leisure travel enables us to respond with ambition,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. “Leveraging our brand, our network and a strategy focused on diversification and optimization, we continue to enhance our offering and expand our presence in high-potential markets. And this is only the beginning: next winter will bring a wave of announcements, spanning both network development and partnerships.”

    Sustained Expansion from Quebec City
Air Transat continues to grow its operations from Quebec City with the addition of a new route to San José, Costa Rica. The offering is also enhanced with additional frequencies to Fort-de-France (two flights per week) and Cancún (eight flights per week). In addition, the seasonal Québec City–Nantes route, scheduled to launch this summer, will be extended through the holiday period to meet the strong demand for Europe. These additions bolster Air Transat’s winter offering and consolidate its position as the leading carrier at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport.

The French Antilles Now Easily Accessible from Toronto
From Toronto, Air Transat is adding a new route to Fort-de-France, Martinique – a fast-growing destination renowned for its cultural richness and unique landscapes. Already offered year-round from Montreal and Quebec City, this destination will now be available seasonally from Toronto, allowing even more travellers to discover this gem of the French Antilles.

Key European Routes Now Offered Year-Round
Air Transat is expanding its winter offering to Europe by making two popular European routes available year-round. The Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona routes, previously operated only during the summer season, will now also be available in winter. This addition is designed to better meet the needs of travellers wishing to visit loved ones or plan trips outside the peak season. By offering these destinations all year long, Air Transat provides greater choice and flexibility while facilitating travel between Canada and Europe throughout the year.

Expanded Offering from London and Charlottetown
Air Transat is also continuing to develop its presence at regional airports with the addition of Puerto Plata from London (Ontario) and Punta Cana from Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island). These routes enhance the airline’s existing sun destination offering, which already includes flights to Cancún and Punta Cana from London, as well as Cancún from Charlottetown.

Florida Returns to the Winter Program
After a pause during the summer season, Air Transat will resume service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in winter 2026-2027. The airline will offer up to seven weekly flights from Montreal, as well as three weekly flights from Quebec City and a weekly flight from Halifax. The return of this iconic sun destination is part of Air Transat’s efforts to strengthen its winter offering and reinforce its presence in the most promising markets.

“These additions illustrate our commitment to consolidating our presence in Eastern Canada by offering more non-stop travel options while responding to growing demand for convenient, close-to-home departures,” added Mr. Ponce.

YMM recognized for standout performance in terminal experience, transportation access and technology services

Fort McMurray, AB – The Fort McMurray Airport Authority (FMAA) is proud to announce that Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) has achieved the highest all time AirportNEXT variable scores in terminal, transportation access and technology services across all participating airports in North America.

The recognition is part of the AirportNEXT Stakeholder Engagement Assessment, developed in partnership with Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), which evaluates how airports perform across key areas including infrastructure, facilities and stakeholder alignment.

“This recognition is a direct reflection of the care, attention and pride our team brings to the passenger experience every day,” said Denean Robinson, President and CEO, FMAA. “To be recognized at this level among airports across North America speaks to the strength of our facility and the experience we deliver to our community.”

The AirportNEXT program gathers feedback from airport, industry and community stakeholders, offering a comprehensive view of performance and opportunities for improvement.

Results from YMM’s most recent assessment highlighted strong performance across infrastructure and passenger facing services, with particular recognition in terminal experience, ease of access and technology offerings.

“Congratulations to YMM and their leadership team for having such strong relationships with their key stakeholders,” said Tom Ruth, President, AirportNEXT Solutions Inc. This achievement reflects alignment, collaboration, and trust among many different groups.”

  • Unprecedented Selection of Flights at YQB – 376,456 more seats on flights from YQB: Do you have yours?

QUÉBEC CITY, April 13, 2026 /CNW/ – Never before have so many seats been available on flights departing from Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB). In 2026, capacity will be 15% higher than in 2025, with that percentage reaching nearly 25% over the summer season– a record increase among Canadian major airports. In concrete terms, this means that 376,456 additional seats (2,965,889 in total) will be available for travellers from the region and all over Québec.

This growth in capacity sends a clear message: airlines believe in the potential of the Québec City market. However, it also highlights a key issue for the coming years: the market’s ability to support and sustain this increase.

More destinations, more frequent flights, and more varied options
The summer of 2026 will bring a major improvement for people travelling through YQB. Passengers will be able to enjoy more destinations, more frequent flights, and more varied options than ever.

    • More destinations: New international destinations added, including Nantes, Marseille, and Washington
    • More frequent flights: Flights and capacity added for strategic hubs like Vancouver, Paris, and Calgary
    • More varied options: Year-round flights to Fort-de-France, Martinique; return of the Porter flight to Toronto (Pearson); and addition of an American Airlines flight to New York (JFK)

For the summer 2026 season alone, travellers will enjoy 5 more destinations than in 2025.

The number of seats offered at YQB has grown by a remarkable 27% overall since the pre-pandemic years (2019). More specifically, it has grown by:

    • 44% for cross-border flights (to the United States)
    • 111% for international flights
    • 9% for domestic flights (within Canada)

    A collective opportunity worth seizing
At a time when nearly one in two travellers from the Québec City region is still choosing to fly out of another airport, 2026 is a watershed year. After all, the benefits of flying out of Québec City are numerous: a wide range of destinations, nicer facilities, international connectivity, a streamlined travel experience, fewer waits, a friendlier atmosphere, easy access, affordable parking, ability to get back home within 20 minutes… all without the extra costs (gas, long-term parking, hotel stays, meals, longer travel time) involved in flying out of another airport.

Choosing Québec City also means choosing to support the region’s economic and tourism vitality. Each new flight brings significant spin-offs for the tourism industry while making the region even more competitive and attractive.

However, ensuring this historic growth continues will call for unprecedented mobilization of travellers, the business community, and regional stakeholders. Every filled seat directly helps maintain and develop air routes from Québec City.

    A clear ambition for 2030
YQB is aiming to receive 2.4 million passengers by 2030. The year 2026 will be a decisive one for that goal as the attractiveness of the platform is consolidated and all regional stakeholders are mobilized.

    Quotes

“Passengers wanted more destinations, more flights. and more seats. We heard them, and thanks to our excellent relationships with the airlines, that is exactly what they are getting. This achievement was also made possible by a collaborative approach that rallies all of the regional stakeholders, opening the door to new opportunities. Now it’s up to all of us to prove that the airlines were right to believe in our market, by showing up to ensure these routes continue.”

     –  Stéphane Poirier, President and CEO of YQB

“The historic increase in seat capacity at the Québec City airport is excellent news for the entire region. It means more tourists, more investment, and more opportunities for our local businesses. Each new flight generates direct economic activity for our businesses, our workers, and our tourism industry. Our government is proud to support initiatives that strengthen the attractiveness of the Québec City region and generate tangible benefits for the local economy.”

     –  Joël Lightbound, Minister of Government Transformation,
Public Works and Procurement and Québec Lieutenant

“This increase in departures from Québec City is excellent news for the attractiveness of our city and its airport, not to mention the entire regional economy. We can go anywhere in the world from home. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, one thing is certain: Québec City is the best place to start or end your vacation.”

      –  Bruno Marchand, Mayor of Québec City

“This major improvement to the flight options at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport is an incredible asset for our region. By making our region even more accessible, this move directly supports our attractiveness, our competitiveness, and our economic development, benefiting all our communities.”

    –  Steven Blaney, Mayor of the City of Lévis

“The results speak for themselves: air routes are real drivers of economic development, not an expense. Thanks to a partnership, the Alliance and the Minister of Tourism, Amélie Dionne, are proud to be contributing to the growth of air travel at YQB. The new flights allow key markets to connect directly to Québec City, generating major tourism spin-offs, helping break seasonal barriers, and tangibly benefiting our businesses in the greater Québec City area. Investing in air connectivity is also investing in the sustainable growth of tourism and regions.”

     –  Geneviève Cantin, Director, Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec

“Greater air connectivity is a deciding factor when major events choose host cities. The new routes and larger number of seats significantly improve Québec City’s attractiveness around the world, allowing us to compete with the biggest business destinations.”

    –  Caroline Lepage, CEO, Québec City Convention Centre

“This unprecedented number of seats opens up some incredible prospects for the tourism industry. It makes the destination more accessible and allows us to bring in even more visitors and business events while strengthening our position in key markets. It’s a unique opportunity to showcase Québec City on an international scale.”

    –  Samantha McKinley, Director, Destination Québec cité

“This improved air service is a major strategic asset for the business community. It facilitates trade, attracts investment, and strengthens the competitiveness of our region. As such, Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport plays a key role in the economic development of the Capitale-Nationale region, acting as a true gateway to the world for our businesses. It’s essential that businesses step up to support this growth by fully integrating our airport into their travel plans.”

This year, nearly 200 people participated in the typical airport process, from arrival to security screening, boarding, and the announcement of safety procedures on board the aircraft.

“ADM is proud to have once again played host to Premium Kids, an event that aligns with our commitment to making the airport experience more inclusive and accessible,” said Jérôme Conraud, ADM’s Vice President Strategy, Planning, and Sustainability. “The children, accompanied by their parents, experienced a realistic introduction to the airport environment in a welcoming setting, which gave them hope that one day they will be able to fly as a family. This activity is very important to ADM, and I would like to thank all the volunteers and partners who made the day such a success.”

“Initiatives such as Premium Kids, supported by the commitment of our employees and long-standing partners like ADM, play an essential role in easing these families’ apprehensions and guiding them toward a more serene travel experience. As part of our accessibility approach and our commitment to continuous improvement, we have identified critical moments in the travel experience of individuals with functional limitations, one of which is the airport process. This highlights just how important events like Premium Kids are. Air Transat is honoured to support this meaningful initiative year after year,” added Andréan Gagné, Senior Director, Communications, Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility at Transat.

Presented as part of Autism Awareness Month, this initiative is inspired by a similar program, Wings for Autism, launched in 2011 by the Charles River Center in collaboration with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Boston-Logan International Airport). ADM became the first airport authority in Canada to implement such a program at YUL in 2013.

  • ADM Announces Its Financial Results for 2025

MONTRÉAL, March 30, 2026 /CNW/ – ADM Aéroports de Montréal (the “Corporation”) announced today its consolidated operating results for the year ended December 31, 2025. These results are accompanied by passenger traffic data for YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.

    Highlights

    • Passenger traffic at YUL totalled 5.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, up 1.2% compared with 2024. In total, 22.4 million passengers passed through YUL in 2025, down 0.5% compared with 2024. Notably, the domestic and international sectors grew, posting increases of 1.9% and 2.4%, respectively, over the same period in 2024. The transborder sector (U.S.) declined by 9.5% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
    • EBITDA (earnings before income taxes, net financial expenses, depreciation and impairment and share in the results of joint ventures; see the “Non-GAAP Measures” section for more information) was $442.9 million for fiscal 2025, an increase of $3.8 million over EBITDA of $439.1 million for the previous year.
    • Capital investments (net of grants) were $696.5 million in 2025, compared with $439.1 million in 2024, an increase of $257.4 million, or 58.6%. Investments in the Airport program totalled $582.8 million ($352.1 million in 2024), and those for the airport’s REM station totalled $113.7 million ($87.0 million in 2024).

    Quote

“The year 2025 ended on a relatively stable note, with 22.4 million passengers passing through YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport–a volume comparable to that in 2024. Considering the socio-economic context of the past year, this demonstrates the importance of travel, especially for Quebecers,” said Yves Beauchamp, President and CEO of ADM. “It is a great privilege for us to welcome such a large number of travellers to YUL and offer them so many opportunities to connect with destinations around the globe. This is precisely why ADM teams must continue to implement Flight Plan, the airport infrastructure development program, to provide users with better service. With construction sites and other work continuing to increase at the airport, I would like to thank our users for their patience and compliance with the mitigation measures put in place. I would also like to recognize the excellent work of the airport community’s employees, whose dedication is helping to build the airport of tomorrow.”

    Financial results

Consolidated revenues totalled $960.8 million in 2025, an increase of $43.6 million, or 4.8%, compared with 2024. These results are attributable to the increase in AIF fees, which took effect on March 1, 2024, as well as the annual increase in aeronautical charges, which were partially offset by the slight decrease in passenger traffic and carrier activity.

Operating expenses for the year under review totalled $369.5 million, an increase of $38.2 million, or 11.5%, compared with 2024. This increase is mainly due to costs associated with preliminary studies that will enable the implementation of the airport facilities development plan, passenger service expenses–particularly to mitigate the impact of construction on traffic flow during peak periods–increased information technology spending as the Corporation transitions to cloud-based solutions, and increased headcount over 2024.

Transfers to governments (payments made in lieu of taxes to municipalities [PILT] and rent to Transport Canada) totalled $148.4 million, an increase of $1.6 million compared with the previous fiscal year and represented 15.4% of ADM’s total revenues (16.0% in 2024).

Depreciation and impairment of property and equipment and right-of-use assets were $183.1 million in 2025, an increase of $14.2 million, or 8.4%, from 2024. This increase is mainly due to the commissioning of new assets in 2025 and 2024.

Net financial expenses totalled $100.8 million in 2025, an increase of $12.7 million, or 14.4%, compared with 2024. This variance is mainly due to a decrease in interest income on surplus cash.

Net income was $159.0 million for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, compared with $182.0 million in 2024, a decrease of $23.0 million, or 12.7%.

    Sustainability at ADM

During this quarter, ADM implemented the following initiatives to pursue its commitment to sustainability:

    • Won the Eureka Award in the Transportation Organization category, presented by Écotech Québec, for the development and successful testing of the new ECOWAY50 deicing fluid, developed in collaboration with Electro Carbon.
    • Launched a new edition of its “Chez ADM, on Centraide” campaign, through which it contributes to the fight against poverty, exclusion, and inequality. This initiative also enabled some 30 ADM employees to volunteer with three organizations affiliated with Centraide. Thanks to the generosity of employees, a total of $131,540 was donated to Centraide of Greater Montréal and Centraide Laurentides.
    • Hosted a blood drive at its YMX site organized in partnership with Héma-Québec, Safran, and ADM. Thanks to the generosity of the YMX airport community, more than 200 patients will benefit from these valuable donations.
    • Took a new step forward in its efforts to electrify and decarbonize its operations by introducing five new Nova Bus electric buses at its YUL site. These buses now transport passengers between Parking Lot P4 and the terminal.

  • Skytrax 2026 World Airport Awards: YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport Stands Out

MONTRÉAL, March 27, 2026 /CNW/ – ADM Aéroports de Montréal is proud to announce that YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport achieved strong results in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards. After winning top honours in 2021, 2023 and 2025, the airport community’s employees this time took second place in the “Best Airport Staff Service in North America” category.

“The year 2025 marked the beginning of a significant transformation of our airport, with numerous projects aimed at shaping the airport of tomorrow,” said Yves Beauchamp, President and CEO of ADM. “In this sometimes challenging context for passengers, I am particularly proud that the remarkable work of our airport community members has been recognized. We are privileged to have a dedicated and passionate community that has enabled YUL to excel for years by providing exceptional hospitality and prioritizing the traveller experience. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the 13,000 employees who assist and serve passengers from here and abroad every day. Through their dedication and smiles, they are contributing to the reputation of our international airport and city.”

According to Skytrax, this latest award reflects passengers’ high regard for YUL’s customer service teams, who stand out for their professionalism, courtesy, and comprehensive approach, both within the terminal and through increasingly extensive digital assistance services.

For several years now, YUL has remained in the top 10 of the overall “Best Airports in North America” category. Notably, only two other Canadian airports are included in this category. YUL climbed five spots compared to last year and ranked 46th on the overall list of the top 100 international airports, as determined by votes from travellers worldwide.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are considered a benchmark of quality within the global airport industry. The awards are given out as part of the world’s largest annual airport customer satisfaction survey, which is conducted among more than 565 airports and millions of travellers worldwide. The survey evaluates the user experience in all areas of airport services and facilities, including arrival, check-in, retail offerings, security, and departure at the boarding gate. The survey period ran from August 2025 to February 2026. The survey and awards are conducted independently of any control or contribution by the airports.

Skytrax is also recognized for its World Airport Star Rating program, which evaluates airports worldwide based on audits conducted by surveyors and a committee of independent experts. Since 2019, YUL has been certified as a 4-star airport, placing it among the ranks of other major airports worldwide. This prestigious international recognition was renewed at the end of 2024.

  • Investment of nearly $50 million in YQB – Reorganization of Domestic Flight Arrivals to Support Growth and Enhance Passenger Experience

QUÉBEC CITY, March 25, 2026 /CNW/ – Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) is proud to announce the start of the New Infrastructure for Comfort and Efficiency (NICE) project. With this major infrastructure project, YQB will be reorganizating the domestic flight arrivals, adding more space and equipment in this key area to comfortably accommodate twice as many passengers and efficiently process their baggage and cargo.

The domestic arrivals area receives more and more passengers each year, arriving on larger aircraft than in the past. The current area, built in 2008, reaches full capacity several times a week.

Work on the NICE project will begin in April 2026 and continue through to 2028. It will include:

    • The installation of a third baggage carousel dedicated to domestic flights
    • The reconstruction of gates 28 and 29
    • The upgrade of gate 28 to accommodate larger aircraft
    • The creation of a new baggage and cargo unloading area
    • The reorganization of the baggage claim areas
    • The addition of new facilities for partners with airside access
    • The reorganization of the conference room
    • The renovation of restroom facilities and the creation of new restrooms
    • The addition of 4,500 m² across two levels

The project, which requires a total of $47.8 million in investments, is receiving $12.5 million in funding from the Government of Canada through the National Trade Corridors Fund program.

“We are investing in infrastructure that is essential to our growth, aligned with our goal of welcoming 2.4 million passengers by 2030–a 35% increase. In this context, the project is necessary to continue providing a smooth passenger experience and modern, state-of-the-art facilities for our partners,” said Stéphane Poirier, President and CEO of Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. “We are grateful for the Government of Canada’s support in helping fund this major project, which is crucial for our development and for ensuring that people and cargo can continue to move smoothly through our airport. The growth of air traffic is a strong driver of socioeconomic development for our region and the province as a whole. The greater Québec City area deserves continued investment to support its development.”

“By modernizing the domestic arrivals area at Québec City Jean-Lesage International Airport, we are helping the airport accommodate more passengers, handle baggage and cargo more efficiently, and better respond to the growth in air traffic. This investment, made possible by the National Commercial Corridors Fund, improves travel flow, strengthens regional connectivity, and supports the long-term economic development of the greater Quebec City region” said the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.

“With this $50 million investment at YQB, including $12.5 million from the Government of Canada, we are modernizing a key piece of infrastructure for the Québec City region,” mentioned the Honourable Joël Lightbound, Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement and Quebec Lieutenant. “This project will double passenger capacity and provide a smoother travel experience, while supporting the region’s economic growth.

“Our airport is an integral part of our vision for comprehensive mobility in Québec City,” stated Yannick Fauteux, councillor for the Cap-Rouge-Laurentien district and chair of the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC). “Offering citizens more options so they can travel using their preferred mode of transportation also promotes interregional mobility, and therefore increases the appeal of domestic flights departing from Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. This investment is promising for the future of air service to the greater Québec City area, with the associated economic benefits” he added.

This major project for YQB has been carefully developed to maximize the value of the investment. Strong planning, along with close collaboration with the airport community, will allow the project to proceed while keeping the area operational and minimizing impacts on operations and passenger comfort.
