A decade of flights to Toronto and Vancouver, and 15 years to Montreal

Mexico City, December 3, 2025. — Aeromexico celebrates three important milestones in its operations to Canada: 15 years of flying to Montreal, as well as 10 years of connecting with Toronto and Vancouver. These destinations represent not only key routes for air connectivity between the two countries, but also a cultural, tourist, and economic bridge that has grown steadily for more than a decade.

Over the past 15 years, the airline has connected Canada with Mexico through more than 30,000 flights.

So far in 2025, Aeromexico has carried more than 325,000 passengers, meanwhile, between December and March, the airline will operate more than 110 monthly flights connecting the two countries, using 737 MAX, the most efficient aircraft models.

“Canada has long been a key destination for Aeromexico. Commemorating these anniversaries reaffirms our dedication to connectivity, tourism, and the close relationship between our countries,” said Pepe Zapata, Vice President of Sales for Canada, United States, and Latin America. “We are committed to providing passengers with the highest quality onboard experience, enhanced by advanced technology and modern aircraft like the Boeing 737 MAX, which delivers superior comfort and efficiency.”

From Canadian airports, local representatives also highlighted the collaboration and results of this long-term relationship:

“ADM Aéroports de Montréal has had the pleasure of playing host to Aeroméxico, a national airline with an extensive network, at YUL for 15 years now. With its flights to the Mexican capital, our long-standing airline partner gives travellers access to magnificent landscapes, historic neighbourhoods and a rich culinary heritage, and I’d like to thank them for enhancing the offerings of our international airport,” said Karl Brochu, Vice President, Airport Operations and Air Services Development at ADM. “Thanks to this connection, companies have found new growth opportunities, tourists have discovered a fascinating new destination, and friends and families have been brought closer together. Congratulations to Aeromexico, and here’s to many more years of celebration!”

“Aeromexico has played a significant role in connecting Mexico to Vancouver, and Canada, since it began operating at YVR in 2015,” said Andy Margolis, Vice President, Operations and Chief Operations Officer at Vancouver International Airport. “The airline’s service, including its direct flights to Mexico City, is integral to fostering travel, trade and tourism between our two countries and beyond into Latin America. This is a significant milestone in its commitment to connecting Vancouver, and we look forward to continued growth ahead.”

“We wish to congratulate Aeroméxico on a decade of partnership at Toronto Pearson. As Mexico’s flagship carrier, Aeroméxico’s daily round-trip flights between Mexico City and Toronto help connect travellers to these two vibrant cities,” said Kurush Minocher, Chief Commercial Officer, Toronto Pearson. “This soaring achievement underscores the airline’s dedication to providing seamless travel and strengthening the important ties between Canada and Mexico.”

With 74 international routes and 55 within Mexico, Aeromexico continues to expand its network, focusing on innovation, connectivity, and service. Among its main differentiators are its Premier Cabin with hot meals included, the best in-flight entertainment, personal screens, free messaging during the flight, Bluetooth for connecting wireless headphones, and much more.

“Air Canada is diversifying its domestic regional network this fall to capitalize on travel demand in growing markets. Our newest Ottawa routes will connect the National Capital Region to two expanding areas in New Brunswick – its capital city, Fredericton, and Moncton, the province’s largest urban and fastest growing area. We have strategically designed these New Brunswick flights to connect in Ottawa to and from our domestic and sun network for additional travel choices,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President, Cargo at Air Canada.

“The addition of non-stop flights from Fort McMurray to Vancouver, and more flights from Sudbury to Toronto will link these airports directly to our Vancouver and Toronto hubs, bringing corporate travellers a multitude of connecting options throughout our global network,” concluded Mr. Galardo.

As part of these network adjustments, Air Canada is also taking the difficult decision to suspend operations to Bathurst and to North Bay effective Jan. 30, 2026, for commercial viability reasons. Air Canada will implement these suspensions in line with its obligations under the Canada Transportation Act.

This winter, Air Canada will offer over 60,000 seats each day on more than 500 daily flights to 49 destinations across Canada.

  • Going Global – New Destinations Take Flight as Air Canada Expands Network for Summer 2026

    • New Montréal – Catania, Italy
    • New Montréal – Palma de Mallorca, Spain
    • Return of TorontoShanghai; TorontoBudapest
    • Extension of Vancouver–Bangkok to year-round

MONTRÉAL, Sept. 10, 2025 /CNW/ – Air Canada today announced its international network for Summer 2026 with new destinations taking flight in Europe and Asia. Beginning next year, the airline will launch new routes from Montréal to Catania in Sicily, Italy and, as unveiled yesterday, to Palma de Mallorca, Spain. From Toronto, Air Canada re-establishes non-stop flights to Shanghai and Budapest, and increases flights to Prague. Air Canada’s popular seasonal Vancouver-Bangkok route will now become year-round, strengthening the airline’s position as the only North American carrier offering direct, non-stop service to the Thai capital.

“Air Canada’s continued international expansion reflects our bold ambitions, and leverages our network reach and scale to capitalize on global travel demand driven by leisure travel trends, growing demand for services to Asia, and cargo development opportunities. Next summer, we will be launching exciting, new services to Sicily and Mallorca from our Montréal trans-Atlantic hub. Air Canada is the first Canadian carrier to offer customers non-stop flights to these sought after Mediterranean destinations, and the only airline operating scheduled service from Canada to Sicily and Mallorca,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President, Cargo at Air Canada.

“From Toronto, we are further cementing our global hub with the launch of two celebrated, international routes linking Canada’s largest metropolitan area directly to Shanghai and Budapest, and adding capacity to Prague. Our seasonal Bangkok services from our Vancouver trans-Pacific hub become year-round, solidifying our position as the only airline with non-stop, continual service to Thailand from the North American continent. In all, these strategic additions reinforce Air Canada’s global network as one of the most wide-reaching from North America, connecting our customers to all six inhabited continents,” concluded Mr. Galardo.

“Canadians will enjoy more travel options, greater convenience, and stronger connections to Europe and Asia with Air Canada’s new destinations in 2026. These expanded routes mean easier access to the places people want to go—whether for business, leisure, or to visit family. And as more passengers take flight, they promote trade and tourism, supporting jobs across the country, and helping us grow a stronger Canadian economy,” said the Honourable Chrystia Freeland , Minister of Transport and Internal Trade.

“Air Canada’s expanded network is more than new destinations—it’s a gateway to stronger trade, investment, and people-to-people ties. Most of Canada’s air cargo travels in the belly of passenger planes, so when we expand passenger routes, we’re also expanding trade routes—moving Canadian goods faster, farther, and more reliably. These new connections to Europe and Asia give Canadian businesses better access to key markets, strengthen our global competitiveness, and build on what was already a record year for Canadian air cargo. Stronger connectivity in the skies means stronger growth on the ground, and ensures Canada remains a leader in the global economy,” said the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, Government of Canada.
