MONTRÉAL, December 18, 2025 – ’Tis the season for making memories, and for more than 2.3 million Air Canada customers, that starts the moment they arrive at the airport. Between December 18 and January 4, the airline expects to welcome close to 130,000 customers a day – surpassing 140,000 during peak periods – in one of its busiest travel weeks of the year.

Holiday Hospitality at Every Step of the Journey

“At Air Canada, the customer experience is at the core of everything we do, and we know that at this busy time of year and with unpredictable weather, holiday travel is exciting but can also be stressful,” says Tom Stevens, Vice President of Customer Experience and Service Operations. “Our teams are here to provide attentive care and help customers feels confident and comfortable throughout their journey. Especially our customers who may need an extra helping hand – whether that’s families with young children, or our customers with accessibility needs.”

The warm welcome for customers starts with our airline agents, there to help navigate the busy terminals – whether it’s directions to restrooms, charging stations, our lounges or simply offering an extra set of hands. And if it’s extra fuel you need, stop and say hi and grab a complimentary festive snack across many of our Canadian airports between December 18 and 24. The team will be handing out a selection of our onboard treats like LeClerc Célébration Cookies and TWIGZ buttery herb and garlic pretzels.

Earlier this month, Air Canada’s team members kicked off their efforts and surprised customers at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport with thoughtful gifts for the holiday season. See the smiles these surprises brought in this holiday video.

    Innovations Making Every Journey Smoother

From major investments in aircraft cabins, new technology, and frontline training, the airline continues to transform the Air Canada travel experience. In 2025, Air Canada rolled out upgrades designed to boost comfort and confidence, including fast, free Wi-Fi for Aeroplan Members sponsored by Bell on North American and Sun routes, complimentary beer, wine and premium snacks – including non-alcoholic Heineken 0.0 – and new Air Canada Cafés at Montréal-Trudeau and Vancouver domestic terminals for a relaxed way to grab a pre-flight coffee or snack.

The Air Canada mobile app offers customers day-of-travel updates, with flight status, gate changes, and real-time baggage tracking helping them feel more in control of their trip. This includes a new tool that puts a human face to the hardworking employees loading and unloading customer baggage.

As always, Air Canada offers priority assistance for families, and customers with accessibility requirements. From contact centre agents and gate staff to cabin crews and baggage handlers, airline teams are committed to supporting every customer’s needs – whether that’s helping children travelling alone, assisting with tight connections, or ensuring smooth travel for those with accessibility requirements. The airline’s three-year Accessibility Plan, launched in 2023, guides ongoing investments and training to make travel more inclusive and seamless for all customers.

    • Seasonal flights offered until the end of March 2026
    • Rio de Janeiro is Air Canada’s second destination in Brazil

MONTRÉAL, Dec. 05, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Air Canada’s first flight from Toronto to Rio de Janeiro arrived this morning, linking Canada to the picturesque seaside city in Brazil. The seasonal service, offered three days a week, runs until the end of March 2026. A ceremony was held at Toronto Pearson International Airport to mark the occasion.

Air Canada Launches Non-Stop Service to Rio de Janeiro

“We are thrilled to introduce non-stop seasonal service between Toronto and Rio de Janeiro, connecting two vibrant cities and offering Canadians more opportunities to experience Brazil’s rich culture and stunning landscapes. This route reflects Air Canada’s commitment to expanding our international network and providing our customers with exceptional travel options,” said Alexandre Lefevre, Vice President – Network Planning at Air Canada.

“With its unparalleled beauty and vibrant energy, Rio is already one of the main gateways for Canadian visitors to Brazil, and now, as another summer season is set to start in Brazil, we will certainly see this flow grow with Air Canada’s new flight. Rio and Brazil are wide open to the world and increasingly connected. Brazil is the fastest-growing country in international tourism this year, and that is the result of the promotion of our cultural richness and the authenticity of the experiences that foreign travellers find in our country and in the Brazilian people,” said Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur.

“The new Air Canada route is another important step in expanding Rio de Janeiro’s international connectivity. Linking Toronto to Galeão strengthens our presence in the North American market, creates new opportunities for tourism, and increases the flow of visitors to all regions of the state. We are experiencing the best moment for tourism in Rio in decades, and this new service reinforces that Rio de Janeiro remains on the radar of the world’s leading airlines. It means more development, more jobs, and greater visibility for our state,” said Gustavo Tutuca, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

“The expansion of Air Canada’s route comes at a particularly positive moment, as the number of Canadian visitors to Rio de Janeiro has grown compared to last year. This progress reinforces the potential of this connection and paves the way to further enhance the exchange between both countries, not only Canadians traveling to Rio, but also Brazilians visiting Canada. Strengthening the air network creates real conditions to expand business opportunities, attract events and deepen relations with strategic markets,” said Luiz Strauss, Executive President, Visit Rio.

“The direct connection between Rio de Janeiro and Toronto represents another step in expanding our international connectivity. This route, now returning to Rio, brings Brazil even closer to the North American market and strengthens RIOgaleão’s role as a gateway for tourism and business. We are very pleased to offer travelers a faster, more convenient, and more seamless journey, and we are confident that this operation will generate significant economic benefits for both the city and the state,” said Alexandre Monteiro, CEO RIOgaleão Airport.

  • Paving the Way for Accessible Air Travel: Toronto Pearson Hosts Rehearsal Tour with Spinal Cord Injury Ontario and Air Canada

TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2025 /CNW/ – To help make air travel more accessible and less daunting, a first-of-its-kind rehearsal tour gave individuals with spinal cord injuries the chance to practice the airport journey, build confidence, and experience the process before an actual flight. The initiative is hosted by Toronto Pearson, Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, and Air Canada.

The event, held at Toronto Pearson today, gave participants the chance to rehearse key parts of the airport journey, including check-in and security screening. Air Canada demonstrated accessibility supports such as aisle chair use and safe transfer techniques like the eagle lift, allowing participants and caregivers to learn directly from trained accessibility teams.

“At Toronto Pearson, we strive to ensure passengers feel prepared and confident throughout their travel experience,” said Christina Iacovino, Director, Customer Experience and Development, Toronto Pearson. “This rehearsal program gives participants the chance to practice real stages in the journey and understand the supports available to them. Our collaboration with Spinal Cord Injury Ontario and Air Canada is an important step in improving accessibility and strengthening the travel experience for passengers with disabilities.”

“Air Canada is committed to accessible travel, and an important step towards that goal is providing opportunities to get exposure and familiarity for customers who are new to travel with a disability,” said Kerianne Wilson, Director, Customer Accessibility at Air Canada. “A rehearsal tour like today’s is invaluable for building confidence by giving customers access to the airport and our specialized equipment and employees in a supportive setting so that when it comes time for their actual journey, participants will feel more prepared, comfortable, and assured. We are proud to support initiatives like this that remove barriers and help make the skies open to all.”

“Air travel is a vital part of independence, and too many people with spinal cord injuries face unnecessary barriers when they fly. This rehearsal tour gives our community the chance to practice the journey in a safe, supportive environment and to see firsthand what accessible travel can look like when partners get it right. We’re grateful to Toronto Pearson and Air Canada for taking meaningful, concrete steps to improve the travel experience, and we’re proud to work together toward a future where confidence and dignity are built into every trip.” Michael Richardson CEO, Spinal Cord Injury Ontario.

  • Over 1,000 Dreams Took Flight in 2025 with the Help of The Air Canada Foundation

MONTRÉAL, Nov. 26, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Dreams Take Flight, Air Canada and The Air Canada Foundation celebrated another successful year of magical journeys to theme parks in Florida and California. This year, more than a thousand children across Canada got to experience a day full of rides, magic and laughter.

    Image (9)

Founded in 1989, Dreams Take Flight was created by a group of Air Canada employees in Toronto with a mission to offer children who experience mental, physical or social challenges a trip of a lifetime to a theme park in Florida. By 1997, Dreams Take Flight had expanded across Canada with eight chapters: Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Dreams Take Flight is 100 per cent volunteer driven. Air Canada and The Air Canada Foundation provide each chapter with an aircraft, along with additional support and services, to ensure every trip is a success.

The children chosen from different children’s organizations are accompanied by volunteers, current and retired Air Canada employees who provide a magical experience for those onboard. The volunteers, including flight attendants, maintenance engineers, and numerous other employees on the ground and behind the scenes, generously volunteer their time to offer these children the chance to take a break from their everyday lives and create lifelong memories.

“I am profoundly thankful for the Air Canada Foundation’s steadfast partnership. Their support enables our dedicated volunteers to deliver a day of magic for children who need it most – an experience that can open hearts, broaden horizons, and remind every child that they deserve to dream,” said Denise Egglestone, President, Dreams Take Flight Canada.

“Dreams Take Flight is more than a trip; it’s a moment that inspires hope and courage. Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our employees and retirees, children experience a day that lifts their spirits and reminds them that their dreams are worth believing in. It’s a day filled with laughter, wonder, and possibility, creating memories that stay with them long after the plane has landed. That is something we value deeply and are proud to support,” said Brigitte Saint-Pierre, Director, Official Languages and Community Engagement at Air Canada, on behalf of the Air Canada Foundation.

Since its first flight over 35 years ago, more than 35,000 children have experienced a Dreams Take Flight trip-of-a-lifetime to Florida or California.
