  • CAE to enhance air traffic controller training with CAE Ridge

    The immersive 3D tabletop training tool is being showcased at Airspace Asia Pacific 2025

    Hong Kong, December 9, 2025

    CAE announced today at Airspace Asia Pacific 2025, that it is expanding the use of CAE RidgeTM, its proven and advanced 3D visualization tool, to its Air Traffic Services training offering. CAE RidgeTM enhances Air Traffic Controller training by introducing immersive, collaborative scenarios that accelerate learning and improve operational decision-making.

    This commercial off-the-shelf solution, already in use in military applications by CAE Defense & Security, is now being leveraged to elevate both civil and defence Air Traffic Services training solutions. CAE RidgeTM reinforces CAE’s commitment to deliver innovative, digitally powered training tools that can reduce time to licensing, strengthen operational readiness, and support the long-term transformation goals of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and Air Traffic Organizations (ATOs).

    “CAE RidgeTM represents a meaningful advancement in preparing tomorrow’s air traffic controllers,” said Emmanuel Levitte, Chief Technology Officer, CAE. “By introducing immersive 3D visualization early in the training process, we help build confidence, competencies and situational awareness faster, increasing the effectiveness of training programs, driving toward an optimal time to licensing.”

    As global air travel continues to increase and airspace complexity grows, air traffic controllers face increasing demands and challenges. Before advancing to high-fidelity simulators and on-the-job training, they must develop strong mental models of airports, airspace structures, and traffic flows. While advanced training tools for three-dimensional visualization and mission simulation are regular aspects of pilot and mission crew training, similar solutions for air traffic controllers have been limited. CAE Ridge™ bridges this gap, turning traditional tabletop or more limited computer display training into interactive 3D environments that help instructors and new trainees, as well as qualified controllers, visualize operations, explore scenarios, and rehearse procedures collaboratively.

    “Our goal is to help ANSPs and training organizations adapt to a rapidly evolving operational landscape,” added Marie-Christine Cloutier, Vice President, Strategy, Business Performance & Marketing, CAE. “CAE RidgeTM exemplifies the potential of dual-use technologies, and demonstrates how we can combine decades of simulation expertise and immersive synthetic environments to deliver scalable, commercially accessible tools that empower both instructors and learners.”

    Beyond foundational training, CAE Ridge™ supports pre-simulator preparation, debriefs, procedure rehearsals, initial learning for transferring qualified controllers, Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) scenario development, and operational reviews. Whether in a classroom, remote sessions, or briefings, CAE Ridge™ enables organizations to train effectively, respond to change with greater agility, and maintain high standards of safety and performance.

  • CAE implements industry-leading Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) principles in business aviation

    • CBTA-principles in business aviation recurrent training program set to enhance pilot readiness and safety worldwide

    Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 20, 2025

    CAE is proud to announce the implementation of Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) principles in Business Aviation within its training programs, marking a significant advancement in pilot training and safety. Recognized by leading global aviation regulators—including the FAA, EASA, UK CAA, and Transport Canada—CBTA introduces a data-driven, advanced training framework designed to meet the evolving demands of modern aviation.

    CBTA is a structural evolution in aviation training, emphasizing demonstrated real-world competencies and practical decision-making, in addition to theoretical knowledge. CBTA is being adopted globally because it better prepares pilots for unpredictable and complex operational environments and is increasingly being encouraged or required by regulators.

    This transformative approach enhances safety through competency development, more engaging training experiences, and clearer feedback and performance insights, ensuring pilots are optimally prepared for the complexities of real-world operations, particularly when flying next-generation aircraft in increasingly dynamic environments. CAE will start offering the CBTA-Principles Recurrent Training Program in January 2026, beginning with Phase A of the EASA recurrent training curriculum. CBTA will be offered as an optional component within the EASA recurrent training program, allowing clients to choose between the CBTA format or traditional training.

    “The adoption of CBTA-Principles is a testament to CAE’s ongoing commitment to safety, innovation, and excellence in business aviation,” said Alexandre Prévost, President, Civil Aviation. “Our advanced training solutions are designed to help pilots and operators thrive in an ever-changing aviation landscape.”

    The CBTA framework elevates pilot training by incorporating standardized procedures with modular, scenario-based training, all delivered through CAE’s Continuously Optimized Recurrent (CORe) model. Instructor development began a year ago, embedding CBTA principles into CAE’s teaching standards through structured training and mentorship. This data-driven approach allows for continuous improvement, linking operational insights directly to training outcomes for measurable results.

    What to expect from CBTA-Principles recurrent training:

    Starting January 2026, CAE customers scheduled for the Phase A EASA Recurrent Training Program will experience a modernized training environment, where instructors assess and develop pilot skills using CBTA methodology. Key elements include:

    • Data-driven training through modular CORe topics;
    • Competency and observable behaviour assessments;
    • Facilitated debriefings that promote reflection and learning;
    • Practical, foundational CBTA techniques to enhance pilot performance.

    Key benefits of CBTA for customers:

    • Enhances safety by focusing on both technical and non-technical skills (like decision-making, teamwork, and situational awareness);
    • Provides more relevant and engaging scenario-based training;
    • Allows for more personalized feedback and measurable performance improvements.

    CAE is proud to stay ahead of industry trends by offering clients the most advanced and effective training solutions available. This approach is recognized as more effective than traditional task-based training and is supported by industry leaders such as ICAO, IATA, and major manufacturers.

    As CAE’s global team of over 1,000 business aviation instructors and examiners continue to build proficiency in CBTA delivery, the company is setting a new standard in business aviation training—personalized, performance-focused, and aligned with the latest regulatory trends. The implementation of CBTA-Principles represents a major step forward for CAE customers seeking additional value and assurance in training for those critical moments in aviation.

  • CAE launches a new era in airline operations with Flightscape – Powered by CAE

    ATHENS, Greece, May 6, 2025 /CNW/ – (NYSE: CAE) (TSX: CAE) – CAE today announced that it has rebranded its portfolio of airline operations solutions to Flightscape – Powered by CAE. Flightscape is a data-driven platform for airlines that provides real-time insights to improve operational performance. With Flightscape, CAE is ushering in a new era in operational intelligence, empowering all Operations Control Centre (OCC) stakeholders to prevent disruptions and adapt seamlessly when challenges arise, to optimize operations and costs in even the most complex and time-sensitive situations.

    “Flightscape is the ultimate decision-making platform for airlines, powered by CAE. In a dynamic operating environment, airlines need to seize every opportunity to improve performance, reduce costs and optimize resources while enhancing the passenger experience,” said Pascal Grenier, Division President, Flightscape, Airline Operations Solutions. “Flightscape provides real-time insights that enable airlines to adapt to ever-changing conditions.  We recognize that our customers aren’t just buying a solution, they are choosing a long-term partner and our objective with Flightscape is to ensure our airline partners have advanced solutions to optimize their operations.”

    Flightscape is the next chapter for CAE’s operations platform. Since entering the airline operations market three years ago, CAE has transformed the business and has put customers at the heart of everything it does. The company has invested significantly in its solutions and growing its airline OCC offering into a unified, modular platform that can scale with evolving needs. It has also strengthened its implementation process and customer service globally to ensure long-term success of its airline partners, including French regional airline, HOP! where Flightscape’s Operations Control solution was successfully implemented earlier this year.

    “The implementation of our first module, Flightscape’s Operations Control solution was completed in the first quarter of this year, and we could not be more pleased with the results and impressed by the successful and customized implementation process,” said Eric Chaumette, Chief Information Officer of HOP!. Two more modules, Crew Manager and Crew Planner, are expected to go live in late 2025, a process overseen by a dedicated onboarding team. “This represents a technological transformation for us, as we were using old systems that were locally hosted. Moving to Flightscape’s cloud-based solution – which is continuously updated – we feel confident this new system is setting us up to be more cost-effective, reactive and proactive going forward, while maintaining a high passenger experience level.”

    Built on a modular architecture, Flightscape enables airlines to deploy the solutions they need for operations control, crew management, flight management, airport management, and in-flight service management. Flightscape’s Unified Task Board integrates data from multiple OCC systems to streamline critical decision-making and boost operational efficiency during time-critical situations.

    Delivered as a cloud-native SaaS, the Flightscape portfolio provides a more agile, cost-effective, and future-proof solution than proprietary software, ensuring continuous access to the latest features, security updates, and regulatory compliance without manual intervention. The system integrates easily with existing tools via secure APIs, and its architecture adapts to evolving technologies, making it a long-term, low-risk investment for modern airline operations.

It proposes engineering services, base maintenance and major maintenance inspections to other airlines operating regional aircraft.
