CALGARY, Alberta, July 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — De Havilland Canada, manufacturers of the De Havilland Canadair 515 waterbomber, released a study undertaken by Pollara on the perceptions of Canadians towards wildfires and wildfire response.

From coast-to-coast, Canadians believe that wildfires have become worse over the last decade and they believe a federal investment in a national waterbomber fleet that can be accessed by the provinces when needed is essential to protecting Canada during wildfire seasons.

“89 percent of Canadians believe that it is time for a federal investment in waterbombers to assist provinces when needed in protecting their communities and environment,” said Neil Sweeney, Vice President, Corporate Affairs for De Havilland Canada. “As summers become longer and hotter, the time for a significant investment in wildfire fighting capacity is now.”

A federal investment in new aircraft would create jobs across the country and rebuild the sovereign aerospace capacity and supply chain as envisioned in the Defence Industrial Strategy.

“A national waterbomber fleet would create jobs today and for the long term,” said Sweeney. “Aircraft produced in 1971 are still flying in Europe today and creating manufacturing and engineering jobs here in Canada.”

Canadians also believe that when our fleet isn’t required, that a national waterbomber fleet should be made available to other countries to protect and defend their communities during non-Canadian wildfire seasons.

“Canadians believe that wildfire seasons in Canada are getting worse and that it is time to for the federal government to provide more assistance to the provinces who do an excellent job with the resources available,” said Sweeney. “We wholeheartedly agree with the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry who last month called for a national waterbomber fleet to be established by Canada. Wildfires won’t wait—it’s time for a national waterbomber fleet.”

CALGARY, Alberta, March 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (De Havilland Canada) is pleased to provide an update on the De Havilland Canadair 515 (DHC-515) currently in production in our Canadian manufacturing facilities.

De Havilland Canada is producing 22 aircraft for European customers, including Croatia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and France and have recently signed contracts with the Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Ontario, and Alberta. These orders underscore the strong domestic and international demand for the world’s only purpose-built amphibious firefighting aircraft.

Production is progressing on the first DHC-515 aircraft, with structures being assembled in our Canadian manufacturing facilities. The cockpit and the hull have been recently joined in our Calgary aerostructure assembly line to form the forward fuselage. In addition, we recently completed the assembly of the first DHC-515 wing box, an impressive 28.6-meter-long structure.

CALGARY, Alberta and LISBON, Portugal, Dec. 03, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited and Avincis are pleased to announce various joint initiatives in support of the CL-215, CL-215T and CL-415 aircraft.

As part of these initiatives, Avincis has agreed to transfer ownership of its ADS-B and FMS supplemental type certificates for the CL aircraft to De Havilland Canada for inclusion in its spare parts catalogue, thereby providing access to critical system solutions for all CL aircraft operators. Additionally, going forward, Avincis-led modification opportunities will be developed in cooperation with De Havilland Canada for the CL aircraft.

The announcement was made today during the 2025 Dubai Airshow, marking a significant milestone for both companies as IndiaOne Air expands its fleet and De Havilland Canada strengthens its presence in India’s fast-growing regional aviation market.

The addition of the Twin Otter 300-G to their fleet will support IndiaOne Air’s mission to serve remote and underserved regions of India. The new 300-G is the latest generation of the legendary and proven Twin Otter platform and will enable the airline to further expand connectivity across the country, particularly in areas with limited established airport infrastructure.
