TORONTO / March 31, 2025 – Porter Airlines is updating its 2025 summer schedule. Increases in capacity are spread across new destinations, the continuation of winter routes into summer, and added frequencies. Domestic flying during this period is now 80% of total network capacity, up from 75% in its original summer plan. This is balanced by targeted frequency reductions in select U.S. markets. Despite the changes, Porter’s presence in the Canada-U.S. market will be 25% larger than last summer.
The summer schedule is supported by 10 additional Embraer E195-E2 aircraft compared to 2024, growing the number of jets in the airline’s fleet to 44 (of an order up to 100). These operate in conjunction with the airline’s regional fleet of 29 De Havilland Dash 8-400s.
“Our goal is to fly where our customers want to travel, and this is a moment Canada is at the top of many people’s list,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines. “We are adding routes and increasing flights in regions across the country to meet this demand.”
The updated domestic schedule includes the following details over peak summer operations:

Highlights:
Toronto Pearson-Moncton is a new route, which complements existing flights between Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport-Moncton and Ottawa-Moncton.
Hamilton-Vancouver service doubles to 14 weekly flights, representative of strong pre-booking demand for this new route taking off in June.
Montre´al-Vancouver and Toronto-St. John’s both double planned service to 14 weekly flights.
“These routes complement existing schedules by creating more non-stop flight options and greater connectivity for travelling beyond hubs in Toronto, Ottawa, Montre´al and Halifax,” added Jackson.
Porter is also launching new service between Toronto Pearson – New York-LaGuardia and Montre´al – New York-Newark this spring. This is supported by expanding winter seasonal service through the summer to destinations such as Phoenix and San Diego, and increasing year-over-year capacity for Las Vegas and San Francisco.
“Porter has increased capacity in the U.S. by 25% year-over-year. Based on our current spring bookings, the number of passengers travelling on Porter across our transborder routes is up more than our capacity, demonstrating strong traveller demand for Porter’s elevated experience. As we shift some capacity to domestic routes in the near term to account for consumer travel interest, we are still seeing an overall increase in U.S. travel on Porter flights,” said Jackson.
On every flight, passengers enjoy Porter’s signature service, including no middle seats, complimentary wine and beer served in glassware and premium snacks. Routes operated with the new Embraer E195-E2 also have free, fast WiFi available for everyone.

Terminal upgrades will position the Airport for continued growth as Porter Airlines set to launch service from Hamilton
Hamilton, ON (February 4, 2025) – Today, TradePort International Corporation (TradePort), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vantage Group, unveiled plans for a significant enhancement of the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (Hamilton International) terminal facilities to position it for continued air service growth along with the introduction of flights by its new strategic airline partner, Porter Airlines. Airport and airline executives were joined at the announcement by key municipal, provincial, and federal government leadership, along with community stakeholders.
The new partnership with Porter’s air service commitments and TradePort’s investments were facilitated by the landmark new 49-year management lease signed between the City of Hamilton (City) and TradePort in September 2024. The long-term collaborative partnership between the City and TradePort, in place since 1996, has positioned the airport as a critical driver of connectivity, economic growth, job creation, and community partnerships for Hamilton and the surrounding region. Under the new lease, efforts to expand air service, enhance the passenger experience, and deliver safe, sustainable, and efficient operations will continue – starting with planned terminal upgrades that will begin immediately.
Airport enhancements will include an updated exterior frontage with new and expanded canopies to improve curb operations, and a refresh of terminal interiors from check-in counters and passenger screening areas to gate seating and baggage claim. Integration of architectural elements and finishes inspired by the region’s natural geography will lend the airport a unique sense of place, while new digital signage and lighting upgrades will enhance the overall travel journey. Additionally, future enhancements will include passenger jet bridges to connect the terminal directly to aircraft – a first for Hamilton International – and terminal infrastructure upgrades to position the airport for future expansion to accommodate expected air traffic growth.
Porter will initiate service at Hamilton International beginning in early June 2025, introducing daily service from Hamilton to four popular domestic destinations: Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, and Vancouver.
“Hamilton International was one of Vantage Group’s very first network airports and we have been proud to partner with the City of Hamilton to steward the Airport’s management and development over the past nearly 30 years.” said George Casey, Chair and CEO, Vantage Group. “Through a shared commitment to operating excellence and strategic relationships with many partners, Hamilton International has grown as an important gateway for tourism and business and a critical creator of local jobs and economic impact. We are proud to continue this work with today’s announcement and our new partnership with Porter Airlines.”
“We are delighted to welcome Porter Airlines to Hamilton International as a strategic airline partner, as we invest in the success of our airport today and well into the future,” said Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director, John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. “Porter’s elevated economy service, on-board experience and air service connecting passengers to and from key destinations across Canada are a perfect fit for the stress-free, convenient airport experience we offer here at Hamilton International.”
“The Porter experience is something that travellers in Hamilton have never seen before,” said Michael Deluce, CEO, Porter Airlines. “Our team takes great pride in delivering amenities that make flying something to look forward to and doing so with an emphasis on care and service. Hamiltonians and their neighbours have long deserved a commitment such as what Porter is making, with four routes connecting them across the country. We see significant opportunity in this market to expand our network across North America and believe that the community can support these initial flights – which will position us to consider offering additional service from Hamilton.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines to Hamilton’s John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and to see Vantage Group’s continued investment to enhance passenger facilities. This is a major win for the City of Hamilton and will significantly transform our airport’s passenger service offerings. For years, the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport has been home to Canada’s largest domestic overnight express cargo service, fueling our community’s economic growth and creating jobs,” said Mayor Andrea Horwath. “But Hamiltonians have also longed for more robust passenger options to serve travellers from our city and surrounding communities. The strategic partnership between Porter Airlines and Vantage Group/TradePort, with whom the city recently completed a successful new long-term lease, is a significant investment that will rejuvenate and boost passenger services and will benefit residents, businesses, and the broader region for decades to come.”

Guided by the principles of People, Place and Performance, the Airport is proud to highlight numerous achievements in its annual report
Hamilton, ON (May 9, 2024) – John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (Hamilton International) is pleased to share its 2023 Year in Reviewannual report, highlighting operational achievements, infrastructure investments and community initiatives undertaken in 2023, including its focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) leadership across all business and management practices.
Hamilton International started 2023 announcing a multi-million-dollar investment from Transport Canada’s National Trade Corridors Fund for its two-year Gateway Expansion and Sustainability Project (Project). The $46.9 million Project, jointly funded by the federal government and airport operator TradePort International Corporation (TradePort), will increase cargo capacity and support the movement of goods by strengthening, expanding and rehabilitating key airport infrastructure. As the largest domestic overnight express cargo airport and third largest cargo airport by payload in Canada, Hamilton International remained a critical link in Canada’s supply chain, facilitating 746 million kilograms in total cargo aircraft billable weight through the Airport in 2023.
Hamilton International saw continued growth in passenger air travel in 2023 as 820,011 total passengers travelled through the Airport, reaching near pre-pandemic volumes. Hamilton International was also thrilled to add another passenger airline to its network as PLAY, a low-cost carrier based in Iceland, launched its first and only service from Canada in June, providing access between Hamilton to Europe via Iceland. PLAY provides direct flights to the airline’s hub in Reykjavik and connecting flights to over 30 destinations including Amsterdam, Dublin, Copenhagen, London and Paris.
Hamilton International continued to create a positive environment for employees to succeed while inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals through various initiatives, including mental health first-aid training for airport workers, cooperative education and experiential learning partnerships, while also providing scholarships and bursaries. The Airport contributed over $90,000 of financial and in-kind resources to local organizations, continuing its commitment to integrating a Sense of Place through its community involvement endeavours, connecting employees with the communities they serve and sponsorships and donations.
The Airport also continued its ESG leadership in 2023 with new and continued initiatives taking place across all aspects of its business and operations. Hamilton International made progress toward its goal to reach net-zero through completion of its Decarbonization Assessment and an Investment Grade/Net-Zero Energy Audit, which informed its 2024-2030 strategy. The Airport also implemented operational efficiencies to reduce fuel consumption, improved its waste collection and diversion efforts, prioritized employee health and well-being and invested in the local community.
“I am immensely proud of the work we accomplished at Hamilton International this past year, which was the direct result of the remarkable efforts and collaboration among our employees, airport tenants and community partners,” said Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director, Hamilton International. “As evidenced by this annual report, TradePort and Vantage Airport Group continue to deliver on the vision established for the Airport in 1996. Together with our partners we are building an airport with attractive flight options for passengers, strengthening our position as a vital transportation hub for goods movement in Canada and serving as a critical economic driver for the City of Hamilton and surrounding region.”

“PLAY has taken advantage of Iceland’s location near Europe to bring travellers convenient flights and affordable fares, and now the stopover feature brings even more benefits to our passengers,” said Birgir Jónsson, CEO, PLAY. “Rather than having a few hours layover in Iceland, travellers can make a stop at this bucket-list destination for an extra day or week to experience everything our home country has to offer. Long stayovers are a win-win for both us and our passengers to enable exploration at a low price.”
In Canada, PLAY operates daily flights and seasonal services to more than 30 European destinations from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport, including Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Copenhagen, Barcelona and Athens. The stopover service is available on all flights going through Iceland.
In January, PLAY announced the launch of ticket sales for flights to Split, Croatia via Iceland starting at $359 one way. Starting May 28, the new service will operate once a week, every Tuesday, over the summer. This marks the first time that scheduled flights will be operated between Iceland and Split, as well as PLAY’s first destination in Croatia. Canadian passengers interested in exploring Iceland can prolong their layover into a multi-day stopover for no additional cost and then continue their journey to explore the stunning landscapes and vibrant culture of Split.
In 2023, PLAY flew 114,265 passengers across Europe and North America with an on-time arrival rate of 83 per cent. PLAY’s pay-for-what-you-need model keeps its fares affordable. A personal item is included for the flight, and passengers can choose which upgrades they need for their trip, such as an in-flight meal, carry-on, checked bag, special bags for items such as golf sets, skis, strollers, and musical instruments, seats with extra legroom, cancellation protection and more.
“This new option from PLAY to prolong a layover into a multi-day stopover in Iceland will allow Canadians to see more for less, and supports Hamilton International’s commitment to provide affordable travel options to passengers,” said Cole Horncastle, Executive Managing Director, John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. “PLAY continues to grow its presence in the Canadian market from Hamilton International and this new feature is exciting news for travellers looking to explore multiple destinations in one trip.”
