Adding new destinations of Nassau and Grand Cayman
Expanding more Cancun and Puerto Vallarta
MONTREAL, May 4, 2026 /CNW/ – Transat and Porter Airlines are taking another step forward in their commercial partnership by launching new Transat packages that combine Porter non-stop flights to Nassau, Grand Cayman, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, with Transat’s recognized tour operator expertise. Packages feature a curated selection of hotels in each destination, with a mix of all-inclusive and European Plan offerings depending on the property.
“These additions mark a significant enhancement to Transat’s South destination portfolio,” said Renée Boisvert, Vice-President, Tour Operator Products at Transat. “Through our partnership with Porter Airlines, we’re expanding our reach with sought-after destinations like Nassau and George Town, while giving travellers more ways to build the trip that suits them best.”
For some popular destinations served by both carriers, such as Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, packages will now feature expanded flight options operated by either Porter or Transat, offering travellers greater flexibility and convenience.
“Our partnership with Transat is reaching a new milestone. Porter’s initial entry into traditional South vacation markets with an air-only product this season was a huge success. The introduction of packages gives Canadian travellers another seamless way to experience Porter’s elevated flying experience paired with Transat’s trusted package expertise,” said Edmond Eldebs, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Porter Airlines. “We’re proud of what we’re building together and excited about the possibilities it creates for travellers.”
New packages will be available from Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton for travel on or after November 1, 2026. As Porter continues to expand its sun network across Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, passengers can build the vacation package that works best for them.
These packages will be accessible through Transat’s full range of distribution channels, serving both direct customers and travel agencies.
Since the joint venture signed between Air Transat and Porter at the end of 2023, the two airlines have been steadily bringing together their highly complementary networks, making it easier for travellers to connect seamlessly between Porter’s growing North American network and Transat’s international destinations.

MET will be served by both the 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 and the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2. There are no middle seats on any Porter flight.
Montreal has been a central part of Porter’s strategy since it began flying to Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) when the airline was founded in 2006. MET’s opening allows for a rapid 91% expansion of Porter’s peak summer capacity in the region, including six new non-stop destinations. There are as many as 244 weekly departures from the city–138 from MET and 106 from YUL.
New flights at MET complement Porter’s continuing commitment to Montreal-Trudeau. By serving both airports, Porter is offering passengers more choice, flexibility, and convenience in selecting their flights and destinations.
In the last three years, Porter has introduced 52 E195-E2s into its fleet. This enabled rapid growth throughout North America, including transcontinental flights in Canada and the U.S., plus service to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. The airline continues expanding its network, which currently includes 112 routes across 49 year-round and seasonal destinations.
Its arrival at MET is part of this plan to have an even stronger presence across Canada. A partnership with regional airline Pascan, based at MET, also provides improved connectivity throughout Quebec’s regions and the Maritimes. Passengers are able to purchase a single ticket that includes flights on both airlines, with seamless baggage connections.
Porter has earned recognition as a top airline within North America. It is celebrated for a refined and caring service culture, complementary premium snacks, a choice of beverages, including free beer and wine served in real glassware, plus free, fast WiFi on its E195-E2 aircraft. The airline’s generous service, combined with MET’s exceptional passenger experience, will elevate the art of travelling.
“The new MET terminal development represents an exceptional private investment in transportation infrastructure that Greater Montreal will benefit from for generations. Porter is bringing a wide range of flight options to the airport, along with a genuine commitment to the community. Our philosophy is to treat everyone with care and this is perfectly complemented by the overall travel experience passengers will enjoy at MET. We are eager to begin this journey with an unprecedented amount of new service.” – Michael Deluce, CEO, Porter Airlines
“MET is very proud to count on Porter Airlines as a leading strategic partner in enhancing connectivity for Greater Montreal across Canada. With Porter’s strong presence at MET, the opening of the new terminal is built on solid foundations and promises a reliable and forward-looking future for the greatest benefit of passengers.” – Yanic Roy, CEO, MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport
“As Porter prepares to begin operations at MET, passengers will quickly notice a different kind of airport experience. The terminal has been designed to make every step before boarding simpler, faster and more comfortable — from arrival at the Terminal to the gate. With its compact layout and a simple, streamlined passenger flow, travellers can move through the terminal with ease and spend more time relaxing before their flight. Together with Porter’s elevated onboard service, this creates a seamless and refreshing travel experience.” – Charles Roberge, president and CEO, YHU Infrastructure Partners

New facility streamlines travel experience for passengers
TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Porter Airlines is celebrating a significant enhancement for Toronto travellers with the opening of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) Preclearance at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), marking a new era of convenience for passengers.
As the airport’s largest airline and a longtime advocate for Preclearance, Porter welcomes this streamlined travel experience for the hundreds of thousands of passengers who fly on its U.S. routes each year. The airline has been the driving force behind U.S. traffic at the airport, accounting for all cross-border service since it started operating these routes nearly two decades ago. This represents over 13 million passengers to date.
“Porter has strongly supported Preclearance at Billy Bishop for over 15 years, recognizing the tremendous value it brings to travellers. This is an important development for our passengers and the airport,” said Michael Deluce, CEO, Porter Airlines. “Since launching U.S. flights from YTZ in 2008, Porter has been committed to providing elevated economy service between Toronto and key American cities. Preclearance represents the next chapter in that journey.”
Porter operates up to 16 daily flights to five U.S. destinations from YTZ to established markets in Boston, Chicago, New York/Newark and Washington, D.C. New service to Nashville (BNA) begins on May 11, and existing Chicago service transitions to O’Hare (ORD) from Midway (MDW), as of Sept. 1.
With Preclearance becoming operational, Porter passengers will clear customs and immigration in Toronto before departure, arriving at U.S. airports as domestic passengers. This eliminates additional time for customs processing upon arrival and facilitates faster connections for those with continuing itineraries.
“Billy Bishop has consistently facilitated U.S. travel each year for more passengers than other airports that already have Preclearance. We thank the Canadian and U.S. governments for enabling this important investment, as well as Toronto Port Authority and Nieuport Aviation for ensuring that all requirements were in place for the facility to open,” added Deluce.
To ensure a seamless experience through the new facility, passengers travelling to the U.S. are advised to arrive at Billy Bishop three hours before departure, subject to airport operating hours. Check-in and baggage drop-off counters now close 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure times for U.S. flights, allowing for necessary processing through screening before boarding.

“The Toronto Port Authority celebrates this important milestone for Porter Airlines, which strengthens Toronto’s connectivity with Chicago O’Hare International Airport, a key North American hub. Global connections out of Chicago are vital for Torontonians and the region, supporting both business and leisure travel. With U.S. preclearance set to launch at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, airlines will be able to serve destinations that were previously out of reach, creating new opportunities for growth, collaboration and improved passenger convenience. We congratulate Porter Airlines, a valued partner at YTZ, on this important achievement and look forward to the benefits it will bring to travellers and the local economy,” said RJ Steenstra, president and CEO, Toronto Port Authority.
“Porter Airlines’ continued growth at Toronto Pearson is great news for travellers,” said Kurush Minocher, chief commercial officer, Toronto Pearson. “As Canada’s largest and busiest airport, we remain focused on providing passengers with more choice and greater connectivity. Porter’s expansion increases access to key markets like Austin and strengthens their broader network reach through Pearson, making it even easier for travellers to reach the destinations that matter to them.”
“We applaud the tremendous growth of Porter Airlines in recent months, creating even more opportunity for Canadians to experience the energy, vibrancy and appeal of the United States. Forecasts indicate that over 16 million Canadians will visit the U.S. in 2026. The new non-stop routes into the U.S. and service expansions underscore the importance of sustaining cross-border connectivity. We look forward to working with our airline partners like Porter and welcoming even more Canadian visitors to destinations across the country,” says Chris Heywood, senior vice president, public relations & chief communications officer, Brand USA.
11 February 2026–TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Porter Airlines (Canada) Limited (PACL) has achieved a significant operational milestone with registration in the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program.
The IOSA registration, which covers Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 operations, confirms the airline’s adherence to the highest global safety standards for operational management and control. This achievement is a key step in Porter’s growth strategy, enabling future partnerships with international carriers.
“Safety is the foundation of our growth and part of the promise we make to our passengers,” said Kent Woodside, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Porter Airlines. “Achieving IOSA registration for our E195-E2 operations validates our investment in world-class safety management systems. It signals to the global aviation community that Porter operates with rigorous discipline, even during a period of exceptional growth.”
The IOSA program is the internationally-recognized benchmark for global airline safety management. The comprehensive audit assessed PACL’s documentation and implementation of over 900 standards and recommended practices across key operational areas, including:
Flight operations and dispatch
Aircraft engineering and maintenance
Cabin operations
Ground handling and cargo operations

Registration in the IOSA program provides Porter with a standardized framework for safety audits, reducing redundancy and streamlining compliance processes. “Porter Airlines’ latest YOW service expansion adds nonstop flights to Miami and Phoenix, responding to strong passenger demand for warm‑weather travel. These routes further strengthen our connectivity to the U.S. Southwest and open valuable opportunities for our region. As YOW’s largest airline by number of nonstop destinations served, Porter continues to demonstrate impressive network growth, supported by the expanded connectivity offered through its codeshare partnership with American Airlines.” – Joel Tkach, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Ottawa International Airport Authority
“I am thrilled that Porter Airlines has enlarged its presence at MIA by re-establishing nonstop air service between Miami-Dade County and Canada’s capital city, which hasn’t existed since early 2020. Ottawa is also now MIA’s fourth Canadian destination, creating another nonstop option between our community and our neighbors to the north. Thanks to Porter’s three new weekly flights from Ottawa, we look forward to welcoming more visitors from Canada and to expanding one of our top international travel markets, which is already responsible for more than 700,000 MIA passengers annually.” – Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor, Miami-Dade County
“The launch of seasonal nonstop service to Ottawa is another great addition to our route map and represents the first time our two cities have been connected by air. The service will offer Phoenicians a new, easy option to experience Canada’s capital and also bring new visitors to our beautiful state.” – Chad Makovsky, Aviation Director, Phoenix Sky Harbour International Airport
