WINNIPEG, MB, July 7, 2025 /CNW/ – WestJet announced its winter 2025/2026 schedule, adding new non-stop service between Winnipeg and Liberia, Costa Rica, marking WestJet’s first ever non-stop route from Winnipeg to Central America. Starting December 19, 2025, and operating once weekly, the route further enhances Winnipeg’s connectivity to sought-after sun destinations and reaffirms WestJet’s position as Manitoba’s leisure travel champion and premier airline for sun vacations.
WestJet will operate 23 non-stop routes from Winnipeg this winter, including to 15 destinations in Mexico, Latin America, Caribbean, and to US sun. Additionally, WestJet is adding more non-stop service to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, increasing overall sun destination flying from Winnipeg by 14 per cent, compared to 2024.

Increased service to Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia complements added capacity for key Canadian cities
CALGARY, AB, July 7, 2025 /CNW/ – WestJet revealed its 2025/2026 winter schedule, featuring five new destinations. While departures will increase by three per cent year-over-year, capacity will be consistent with last winter, as seats will be removed from former Sunwing/Swoop aircraft, which will be updated to WestJet’s standard configuration before the start of winter.
This winter, WestJet will operate 305 total routes and serve 62 Latin American, Caribbean, and US sun destinations, delivering more affordable opportunities for Canadians to escape the cold and enjoy sun-filled getaways. With both flight-only options through WestJet, and vacation packages through Sunwing Vacations Group, WestJet leads sun travel from Canada.

The schedule adds new destinations Panama City, Panama; Guadalajara, Mexico; Tepic (Nayarit), Mexico; Havana, Cuba; and Managua, Nicaragua. The schedule also marks Mexico City’s first winter season of operation since becoming a year-round service.
Seat capacity across the Latin America and Caribbean region is scheduled to grow by six per cent, with popular vacation hotspots like Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Mexico in focus for new route growth.

Strengthening Asia connectivity
In addition to sun expansion, WestJet is continuing its growth in international markets. Service between the airline’s global hub in Calgary and Tokyo (Narita) will increase from three to seven flights per week, enabling daily connectivity to Asia and contributing to 18 per cent year-over-year in intercontinental growth.

WestJet builds trade and tourism potential with enhanced access to Delta hubs
WestJet is growing transborder service by 11 per cent this summer, operating to 29 airports with over 900 weekly departures, and continuing to enhance its connectivity from across Canada to Delta Air Line’s major U.S. hubs. Through WestJet’s longstanding partnership with Delta, guests connecting through Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Salt Lake City and Seattle will gain access to a vast network of U.S. destinations on a single purchased ticket with check-in for all flights at first departure, baggage tagged to their final destination and lounge access for select guests.
Continued expansion to Europe and Asia
Growing its transatlantic service from Eastern Canada, WestJet will introduce non-stop connectivity between St. John’s and Paris and welcome back service between Halifax and Paris and St. John’s and Dublin, this summer. Additionally, WestJet will enhance its existing transatlantic connectivity, beginning its service between Halifax and Edinburgh and Dublin one month earlier than 2024, while increasing St. John’s previous service to London (Gatwick) from three-times weekly to four-times weekly.
Growing its global hub’s transpacific service, WestJet will maintain its daily service to Tokyo this summer, while increasing Calgary’s capacity serving Incheon.

The acquisition of nine leased Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, along with Swoop and Sunwing planes, allows the airline to bolster its strategic fleet growth, while managing delays for direct-from-factory aircraft. Airline builds on its recent addition of Nashville route, with extended full summer service
WINNIPEG, MB, Nov. 18, 2024 /CNW/ – Today WestJet announced its comprehensive summer 2025 schedule, including significant capacity growth and the extension of service between Winnipeg and Orlando to year round. In addition, following the successful two-month trial of Winnipeg-Nashville service in fall 2024, this popular route will return for the full six-month summer season in 2025.
With 19 per cent growth in seat capacity, WestJet is reaffirming its commitment to Winnipeg’s leisure and business travellers with enhanced connectivity to domestic and transborder destinations this summer. OTTAWA, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Porter Airlines is celebrating non-stop service between Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Winnipeg Richardson International Airport (YWG), beginning today with one daily roundtrip flight.
The introduction of this route offers travellers seamless connectivity between Manitoba and Porter’s extensive Eastern Canada network out of Ottawa. The service connects with Boston, Charlottetown, Fredericton, Halifax, Moncton, New York, Thunder Bay, Toronto-Pearson, Toronto-City and St John’s through Ottawa.
Porter is also adding more frequency on its Ottawa – Western Canada routes in response to high demand. Service between Ottawa and Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary has also doubled this month to two daily roundtrip flights.
By summer, Porter will operate 16 non-stop routes out of Ottawa.
Flights between YOW and Western Canada are operated on Porter’s new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Configured in a two-by-two seating arrangement, there are no middle seats on any Porter flight.
