North Runway closed at YVR due to aircraft incident – South Runway operational
- 6 pm 21Nov24 Update 7 The North Runway remains closed while we thoroughly assess systems and infrastructure. We will provide further information when available concerning the sequencing of the runway’s return to service. Teams across several organizations were involved in removing the aircraft, including numerous departments from YVR, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB), Cargojet and the aircraft recovery team provided by Air Canada. After TSB permitted access to the site and the aircraft late in the day on November 20, activities ranged from offloading cargo, constructing temporary roadways and staging pads, setting up cranes to lift the aircraft and dispatching tow crews to transport it safely to a nearby hangar for cleaning and further inspection. While flights continue to arrive and depart using the South Runway, we anticipate some impact to flight schedules as we temporarily remain a single runway operation. Travellers are encouraged to check latest flight status with their airline.
