  • Air Canada Announces New Non-Stop ServiceBetween Halifax and Brussels

    November 25, 2025

Waffles, chocolate, and fries, oh my! Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) is delighted to welcome Air Canada’s new non-stop service between Halifax Stanfield and Brussels Airport, launching in the summer of 2026, providing travellers with easy access to Belgium’s capital and beyond.

“This exciting new route is a significant milestone for Halifax Stanfield and for our region,” said Joyce Carter, President & CEO, HIAA. “Air Canada’s continued investment in our market strengthens Halifax’s position as an international gateway and creates new possibilities for business, tourism, and exploring the world.”

Starting June 18, 2026, Air Canada will operate a seasonal Halifax–Brussels route three times a week using a narrowbody aircraft with both Premium and Economy cabins. Brussels will become the airline’s second non-stop international service at Halifax Stanfield, joining its long-standing, year-round, daily service to London Heathrow.

“Air Canada is excited to add Brussels, our second international destination from Halifax, for Summer 2026. Brussels is a gateway to Europe and Africa with our Star Alliance partner Brussels Airlines, and our new route opens up a multitude of travel choices for customers on both sides of the Atlantic, while strengthening local economic ties and tourism,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President – Air Canada Cargo, at Air Canada.

With a flight time of approximately six hours, Air Canada’s new non-stop service between Halifax and Brussels will provide international visitors with streamlined access to Canada’s scenic East Coast.

“Nova Scotia has long-standing ties to Belgium, and the country remains an important trading partner”, said Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Growth and Development, Province of Nova Scotia. “We’re happy that Air Canada is providing a seasonal route that will help keep Nova Scotia and Brussels connected at a time when Nova Scotia is focused on establishing new markets for our products and services, growing our economy and making it easier for people to visit our province.”

With the addition of this new route, Nova Scotia travellers can also enjoy greater choice, enhanced flexibility, and a simple one-stop journey to destinations that were once much harder to reach from Halifax.

“This announcement underscores the strength of our region and the increasing demand for international connections. We’re pleased to continue working with Air Canada, our largest and longest-serving airline partner, to expand Halifax’s global reach and welcome more visitors to Nova Scotia and the entire Atlantic Region,” said Carter.

  • Air Canada and Emirates to Extend Strategic Partnership with Major, Multi-Year Expansion Agreement

    AC-Emirates sky@2x-100
    • Partnership, which has unlocked global connectivity to over 225 destinations worldwide, to be expanded and extended until 2032
    • New customer benefits, including enhanced premium travel experience at more airports
    • Strengthened cargo cooperation to boost two-way trade and better facilitate cargo shipments between the Americas and the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Southeast Asia

MONTRÉAL and DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 19, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Air Canada and Emirates today announced a commitment to expand and extend their strategic partnership, building on the success of a three-year-old agreement between two of the world’s leading airlines. Since launching their strategic partnership in 2022, the airlines have already served more than 550,000 customers, connecting travellers across 56 codeshare routes linking Canada, the U.S., Dubai and key destinations around the globe. The carriers have signed a memorandum of understanding to extend the reciprocal codeshare and loyalty partnership until December 31, 2032. The renewed agreement will deepen their cooperation, lead to enhanced services for customers and cargo shippers, and create the potential for new gateways within Canada in the codeshare network.

“Air Canada’s partnership with Emirates has been highly successful, and we are proud to renew it early, expanding its scope and extending its duration through 2032. This agreement strengthens our international strategy by supporting our daily, year-round service between Toronto and Dubai and providing customers and shippers seamless connections to destinations across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Renewing this partnership is great news, not just for our customers – many of whom have family, cultural or business ties to these regions – but also for Canada, as it enhances our ability to connect the country to the world amid evolving trade and travel patterns,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and President, Cargo at Air Canada.

“Our strategic partnership with Air Canada has delivered exceptional results, and we are pleased to extend this collaboration through 2032. This agreement strengthens our passenger and cargo capabilities, enabling us to enhance customer experiences on codeshare flights while expanding network connectivity for travellers across both markets,” said Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates.

“Beyond passenger services, we recognise the vital role air connectivity plays in fostering economic growth. Since establishing our codeshare partnership in 2022, we have witnessed consistent trade expansion between the UAE and Canada. Through enhanced cargo cooperation, we remain committed to facilitating commerce and contributing to the continued prosperity of both economies. We believe this partnership will serve as a catalyst for strengthening our footprint in Canada and unlocking new opportunities for growth.”

    Air Canada-Emirates Strategic Partnership

The enhanced partnership between Emirates and Air Canada is poised to significantly strengthen tourism and trade between both countries. The collaboration will increase passenger choice and enable expanded cargo cooperation that will facilitate bi-directional cargo flow between the Americas, the Middle East, and Indian subcontinent. Both airlines are also exploring a potential joint venture focused on cargo operations to support the efficient movement of commodities globally.

The extended agreement will enhance the customer experience through improved priority benefits for eligible passengers and operational coordination between both airlines, including ensuring a seamless move of operations to Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) (expected after 2032). Since its inception, the partnership has grown consistently, with the codeshare network expanding to 56 routes that connect Emirates customers to 37 destinations throughout Canada and the U.S., including several new routes that were added this summer: Air Canada-operated services from Toronto to Minneapolis, Montréal to Calgary, and Vancouver to Los Angeles. Air Canada also places its code on 19 routes operated by Emirates to the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Southeast Asia.  In addition to flights under the codeshare agreement, Emirates and Air Canada’s interline partnership also provides customers with access to over 225 destinations worldwide.

“Partnerships are one of the most powerful engines of growth in our business, and our collaboration with Emirates is a perfect example. Since launching in 2022, more than half-a-million customers, almost 500 every single day, have seamlessly connected across our combined networks. What makes this partnership so compelling is the ease and breadth of the experience: more routing choice, reciprocal loyalty benefits, lounge access for eligible customers, and smooth interline and codeshare journeys. With this renewed agreement, we’re taking it even further by enhancing the customer experience, expanding access to more airports, and unlocking loyalty redemptions across all cabins,” said Mary-Jane Lorette, Vice President International Affairs, Network & Partnerships at Air Canada.

Since the initial agreement in November 2022, Air Canada relocated its Dubai operation to Dubai International’s flagship Terminal 3. The co-location of operations in one of the world’s premier terminals has significantly enhanced the connection experience and provides eligible Air Canada customers access to Emirates’ signature Business Class Lounges and other hub facilities in Dubai prior to their flight. The two airlines also offer frequent flyer members joint loyalty program benefits. Aeroplan Members can benefit from earning and redeeming points on all flights operated by Emirates — with access to more than 140 destinations across six continents — via the airline’s home and hub, Dubai. Emirates Skywards members can earn and redeem miles on all flights operated by Air Canada, accessing a network of more than 220 destinations worldwide. The carriers also have plans to reciprocally expand redemptions to each other’s Premium Economy cabins, unlocking the ability for eligible Skywards and Aeroplan members to earn and redeem in all cabins operated by Air Canada and Emirates, respectively.

Air Canada currently operates daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner service between Toronto and Dubai. From Dubai, Emirates offers daily services to Toronto onboard its popular flagship A380 aircraft. The world’s largest international airline also operates seven weekly flights between Dubai and Montréal, utilising its other widebody aircraft – the Boeing 777. Customers flying on the carriers can plan their travel itineraries to global destinations, with seamless connectivity.

    Canada-UAE Trade

Air connectivity is a key driver of Canada–UAE trade. Bilateral trade grew 14 per cent between 2022 and 2023, with Canadian exports reaching CAD $3.3 billion in 2024 — a 17 per cent increase over 2023. As a major global logistics hub and driver of tourism, Dubai supports Canadian businesses by facilitating trade, investment, and tourism across the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and beyond.

We can’t wait to see the movie in theatres, and to spot a special airline in Zootopia, which bears a striking resemblance to our own!”

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Air Canada to bring the magic of ‘Zootopia 2’ to new heights—literally,” said Quincy Kelman, Vice-President of Marketing for Walt Disney Studios Canada. “As Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde return to the big screen, this collaboration invites fans to embark on an unforgettable journey where storytelling meets travel, celebrating the spirit of adventure that defines both Disney and Air Canada.”

Air Canada is also giving Aeroplan Members the chance to win* a wild adventure of their own – one of two vacations to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Bring your pack, pride or herd and come ready to fist pump your paws and howl your heart out with Zootopia: Better Zoogether, the all-new 4D show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!

“Zootopia 2” is the third Disney movie-themed livery for Air Canada. In November 2023, the airline unveiled characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish” on one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and in February 2022, the carrier unveiled an A220 livery featuring Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red.”

    • Robust momentum in bookings, positioning Air Canada to deliver solid results in the fourth quarter of 2025

MONTREAL, Nov. 04, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Air Canada today reported its third quarter 2025 financial results.

    2025-Q3 hglts Media@2x-100

“We delivered a solid third quarter financial and operating performance, after adjusting for the labour disruption, which occurred at the peak of the summer season. We deeply regret that the disruption significantly affected our customers. The entire company worked extremely hard to assist those whose travel was disrupted and to quickly return our operations to normal, and we were also flexible with customer goodwill policies. I thank all employees for their commitment to customer service and operational excellence,” said Michael Rousseau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada.

“Our financial results, after adjusting for the strike impact, met our expectations, with strength in the Atlantic market and in our premium cabins. Operational metrics, such as on-time performance and net promoter score, exceeded both internal targets and last year’s levels for the quarter and year-to-date. Our underlying business fundamentals are very strong. There is good booking momentum in the fourth quarter and early positive indicators into the first quarter of 2026. Our trans-border business trends are largely stable and on par with the first half of 2025.

“We have exciting times ahead of us with growth plans fuelled by key strategic initiatives and new state-of-the-art efficient aircraft. Our focus over the next twelve months is on preparing the airline to grow and expand margins as we transform our fleet with the arrival of best-in-class aircraft across the portfolio and a revitalized Rouge offering. We will also continue to improve our cost structure through productivity gains, operational efficiencies and constant cost discipline to mitigate near term pressures. We continue to focus on free cash flow generation in order to return value to shareholders, including through the renewal of our share buyback program announced today. The hard work ahead in 2026 will position us very well for the second half of our strategic plan and to deliver significant long-term value to all stakeholders,” said Mr. Rousseau.

  • Air Canada and the Air Canada Foundation Celebrate Another Successful Year of Autism Aviation Days Events Across the Country

    • Total of seven events in cities across Canada in 2025
    • The Air Canada Foundation and Air Canada partnered with local autism organizations and airports as well as PAL Airlines and Jazz Aviation
    • Last event of the year took place yesterday in Vancouver

MONTRÉAL, Nov. 03, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Air Canada and the Air Canada Foundation are celebrating another successful year of their Autism Aviation Days events. These events aim to provide a supportive environment where children on the spectrum can familiarize themselves with elements of air travel. This includes the entire pre-flight process, from check-in to boarding and aircraft taxiing, helping to ease anxiety and build confidence for future journeys — not only for the children but also for their families.

This year, with the support of Jazz Aviation and PAL Airlines, events took place in Vancouver, Kamloops, Calgary, St. John’s, Quebec City, Winnipeg and Edmonton.

“Autism Aviation Days expanded significantly this year,” said Brigitte St-Pierre, Director, Official Languages and Community Engagement at Air Canada. “We were able to offer this experience to more families from coast to coast, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful initiative next year. We are honoured to have supported so many autism organizations this year, who do tremendous work in their communities. We also thank our loyal partners Jazz Aviation and PAL Airlines for their help making those events possible.”

“The initial concept was to reassure families that air travel could be a possibility. Having been approached by a travel advisor who is a Certified Autism Travel Professional based in Victoria, BC – the first Autism Aviation Day took flight at the Victoria International Airport,” says Edna Ray, Senior Manager, Regional Sales at Air Canada, who first approached the Air Canada Foundation with the idea. “The increased demand for the events this year demonstrated families with children on the spectrum most definitely would like to enjoy air travel, and we’re happy to be able to introduce families to that possibility.”

“Accessibility is measured in many ways,” said Paul Walsh, CEO, Autism Society of Newfoundland & Labrador. “On October 5th, I saw smiles and tears of joy as families realized they’d broken through a barrier that has denied them the ability to travel together. When any part of society breaks down barriers, we get closer to true equity and inclusion.”

“The Air Canada Foundation’s dedication toward inclusion and accessibility helped create a reassuring and memorable experience for many families,” said Johanne Potvin, Vice President of the Fondation de l’autisme de Québec. “We were moved by the team’s professionalism, compassion and commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with autism. Over 60 people had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with airport procedures, from check-in to boarding.”

In 2024, Air Canada and the Air Canada Foundation held four Autism Aviation Days, helping over 125 children and their families learn more about air travel. In 2025, due to high demand, it hosted seven events, including in Quebec and Newfoundland for the first time, helping over 450 children and their families.

Our accessibility services team is committed to offering seamless travel experiences for all our customers and assists passengers with a wide range of services.
