Reliability and Affordability Canadians Can Count On
EDMONTON, Alberta, November 4, 2024 – Flair Airlines, a leader in affordable and sustainable travel, achieved a 99.6% completion rate in October, positioning it as Canada’s most reliable airline.
“We’re thrilled to report a 99.6% completion rate, even in challenging weather,” said Maciej Wilk, Interim CEO of Flair Airlines. “Choosing Flair means choosing reliability alongside affordability.” Air Canada, Porter Airlines, and WestJet trailed at 98.4%, 99.2%, and 98.6%, respectively.
Flair’s on-time performance (OTP) in October was strong, with 82% of flights arriving on schedule, narrowly trailing Porter Airlines (83.3%) and WestJet (82.9%), and surpassing Air Canada (80.0%). “While 80% is globally competitive, we strive for more,” said Wilk. “Time is important, and we are committed to giving Canadians a reliable experience.”
“October brought some operational challenges, including a bird strike on October 24 during a departure from Toronto. The aircraft encountered a 5.4-kilogram crane on takeoff. “A bird struck the top of the Captain’s windshield, sending some glass into the flight deck. Despite difficult conditions, the crew expertly managed the situation, returning safely to Toronto without injury,” said Captain Matt Kunz, VP of Flight Operations. “This is where the hundreds of hours each pilot spends in training truly pay off. At Flair, we’re proud of our industry-leading pilot training program, supported by our Toronto-based simulator.”
Flair maintained an 86.6% load factor in October, flying 334,709 passengers. Full flights reduce fuel per passenger, showing that more Canadians are choosing Flair’s affordable, sustainable options. While seasonal factors led to a slight increase in emissions at 57.32 grams per kilometre per passenger, Flair remains Canada’s leader in sustainable aviation, with the nation’s lowest emissions per seat and an unwavering commitment to green air travel.
