  • Winter 2026-2027: A Wave of New Offerings Sweeps Across Air Transat’s Network to the South and Europe

    • Costa Rica now accessible non-stop from Quebec City
    • Addition of an exclusive route between Toronto and Martinique
    • Two flagship European routes now offered year-round: Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona
    • Expanded sun destination offering from London and Charlottetown
    • Return to Florida from Montreal, Quebec City, and Halifax

MONTREAL, April 17, 2026 /CNW/ – Air Transat today begins unveiling its 2026-2027 winter program with the announcement of four new routes – Quebec City–San José, Toronto–Fort-de-France, London–Puerto Plata, and Charlottetown–Punta Cana – as well as the expansion of the Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona routes to year-round service. This first phase highlights attractive additions to sun destinations and the strengthening of the airline’s transatlantic offering.

“Demand for sun destinations remains strong, and Transat’s recognized expertise in leisure travel enables us to respond with ambition,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. “Leveraging our brand, our network and a strategy focused on diversification and optimization, we continue to enhance our offering and expand our presence in high-potential markets. And this is only the beginning: next winter will bring a wave of announcements, spanning both network development and partnerships.”

    Sustained Expansion from Quebec City
Air Transat continues to grow its operations from Quebec City with the addition of a new route to San José, Costa Rica. The offering is also enhanced with additional frequencies to Fort-de-France (two flights per week) and Cancún (eight flights per week). In addition, the seasonal Québec City–Nantes route, scheduled to launch this summer, will be extended through the holiday period to meet the strong demand for Europe. These additions bolster Air Transat’s winter offering and consolidate its position as the leading carrier at Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport.

The French Antilles Now Easily Accessible from Toronto
From Toronto, Air Transat is adding a new route to Fort-de-France, Martinique – a fast-growing destination renowned for its cultural richness and unique landscapes. Already offered year-round from Montreal and Quebec City, this destination will now be available seasonally from Toronto, allowing even more travellers to discover this gem of the French Antilles.

Key European Routes Now Offered Year-Round
Air Transat is expanding its winter offering to Europe by making two popular European routes available year-round. The Toronto–Paris and Montreal–Barcelona routes, previously operated only during the summer season, will now also be available in winter. This addition is designed to better meet the needs of travellers wishing to visit loved ones or plan trips outside the peak season. By offering these destinations all year long, Air Transat provides greater choice and flexibility while facilitating travel between Canada and Europe throughout the year.

Expanded Offering from London and Charlottetown
Air Transat is also continuing to develop its presence at regional airports with the addition of Puerto Plata from London (Ontario) and Punta Cana from Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island). These routes enhance the airline’s existing sun destination offering, which already includes flights to Cancún and Punta Cana from London, as well as Cancún from Charlottetown.

Florida Returns to the Winter Program
After a pause during the summer season, Air Transat will resume service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in winter 2026-2027. The airline will offer up to seven weekly flights from Montreal, as well as three weekly flights from Quebec City and a weekly flight from Halifax. The return of this iconic sun destination is part of Air Transat’s efforts to strengthen its winter offering and reinforce its presence in the most promising markets.

“These additions illustrate our commitment to consolidating our presence in Eastern Canada by offering more non-stop travel options while responding to growing demand for convenient, close-to-home departures,” added Mr. Ponce.

    • Openings part of airline’s multi-year program to modernize its global lounge network

MONTRÉAL, April 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Air Canada today opened a new Air Canada Café at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), marking its second Café location for its Domestic customers, expanding its premium ground offering and continuing its investment in the customer experience. This follows the successful launch of a new Café at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in the Transborder sector.

“With our first Vancouver Café, we celebrated the spirit of the city, and we’re thrilled to deepen that connection with a second and larger Café space that adds more of the features our customers love,” said Jacqueline Harkness, Managing Director, Product & Services at Air Canada. “The new Vancouver and Montréal Cafés are key parts of our commitment to keep investing in the customer journey. Each is designed to capture the unique spirit of its respective city, and we look forward to welcoming our customers to these new spaces.”

New Café at Vancouver International Airport Channels West Coast Serenity

Opening its doors today, the second Air Canada Café at YVR is located on the C concourse near gates 50 and 51 and offers an expanded 84-seat, 4,489-square-foot space. Anchoring the premium experience is a full-service bar with specialty barista-made coffees, local craft beers on tap and a selection of local wines including Narrative Red and a sparkling rosé from our long-standing partner Okanagan Crush Pad in addition to an impressive selection of international wines and wines and crafted cocktails.

The Café’s design, by Vancouver-based firm SmartDesign Group, is rooted in the city’s deep connection to the land. A sculptural ceiling evokes the shoreline of Stanley Park, while lighting from Vancouver lighting studio A-N-D recalls the organic forms of river rocks. The space is enriched by art from local artist Renée Van Halm and anchored by a custom piece, ‘Connections’, by Kelly Cannell, a Coast Salish artist from the Musqueam Nation.

New Café at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport Celebrates Local Culture

The Vancouver opening follows the March 24 debut of a new Air Canada Café in the U.S. departures pier at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, marking Air Canada’s second Café location at YUL. The 62-seat Montréal Café is inspired by the city’s renowned “third wave” coffee culture and offers U.S.-bound travellers a premium pre-flight experience.

The menu features iconic Montréal classics including smoked meat sandwiches, fresh bagels, and artisanal pastries like a delectable pistachio croissant alongside a vegan soup created by Sagamité Watso, a Québec-based, Indigenous-owned business. The beverage selection celebrates local Québec craftsmanship, with wines from L’Orpailleur Winery, gin from distillerie du Fjord and craft beers from Montreal’s RJ Brasseur brewery,

    Investing in the Airport Experience

These investments form part of Air Canada’s program to modernize its global lounge network, with further openings and renovations planned for 2026 and beyond. Eligible guests who can access the new and existing Air Canada Cafés at YVR and YUL include Air Canada customers travelling in Business Class, Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Super Elite Members, Star Alliance Gold members, and Aeroplan premium co-brand cardholders.

In the last three years, Porter has introduced 52 E195-E2s into its fleet. The airline continues expanding its network, which currently includes 112 routes across 49 year-round and seasonal destinations.

Its arrival at MET is part of this plan to have an even stronger presence across Canada. A partnership with regional airline Pascan, based at MET, also provides improved connectivity throughout Quebec’s regions and the Maritimes. Passengers are able to purchase a single ticket that includes flights on both airlines, with seamless baggage connections.

Porter has earned recognition as a top airline within North America. It is celebrated for a refined and caring service culture, complementary premium snacks, a choice of beverages, including free beer and wine served in real glassware, plus free, fast WiFi on its E195-E2 aircraft. The airline’s generous service, combined with MET’s exceptional passenger experience, will elevate the art of travelling.

“The new MET terminal development represents an exceptional private investment in transportation infrastructure that Greater Montreal will benefit from for generations. Porter is bringing a wide range of flight options to the airport, along with a genuine commitment to the community. Our philosophy is to treat everyone with care and this is perfectly complemented by the overall travel experience passengers will enjoy at MET. We are eager to begin this journey with an unprecedented amount of new service.”

“MET is very proud to count on Porter Airlines as a leading strategic partner in enhancing connectivity for Greater Montreal across Canada. • Air Canada Expands Landline Luxury Motorcoach Service to Connect Three More Ontario Communities Directly to its Toronto Pearson Global Hub

MONTRÉAL, March 12, 2026 – Air Canada today said it has renewed its agreement with The Landline Company to extend the popular, luxury motorcoach service to the Ontario communities of Niagara, Sarnia and Muskoka, linking them directly with the airline’s global hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport beginning June 15, 2026. In addition, the carrier also announced added frequencies on Landline’s existing motorcoach services for Kingston and Kitchener-Waterloo.

This summer, Landline will operate 26 daily departures to and from Toronto Pearson across six Ontario communities, expanding regional connectivity and deepening network feed into Air Canada’s global hub.

“Air Canada has been very encouraged by the success of the Landline luxury motorcoach service, which leverages the convenience of intermodal transport to extend our network into local communities. Customers greatly enjoy the comforts of Landline’s luxury motorcoaches, which make it easy for them to connect seamlessly between their regional airports and Air Canada’s Toronto Pearson global hub. The addition of Niagara, Sarnia and Muskoka to our network will not only make it easier for their residents to travel with us but should also benefit these communities by facilitating inbound personal, tourist and business travel from around the world, which can provide a significant economic boost,” said Ranbir Singh, Director, Regional Airlines and Markets at Air Canada.

“We are proud to extend our relationship with Air Canada and support the continued growth of its Ontario network,” said Nick Johnson, Vice President, Commercial at Landline. “Travellers can now book communities like Niagara, Muskoka and Sarnia just as easily as a short-haul connecting flight, with seamless booking, loyalty earning and full itinerary protection.”

“By offering seamless access to some of Ontario’s most sought-after destinations, this extension strengthens regional connectivity while showcasing Ontario’s world-class tourism experiences. Expanded services to Niagara, Muskoka and Sarnia will bring people closer to the unforgettable, made-in-Ontario experiences that make our province a premier place to explore,” said the Honourable Stan Cho, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.

  • Greater Toronto Airports Authority Reports 2025 Annual Results

TORONTO, March 6, 2026 /CNW/ – The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (“GTAA”) today reported its financial and operating results for 2025.  Toronto Pearson, Canada’s busiest airport, saw modest growth in its overall passenger volumes, which increased 1.1% to 47.3 million in 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. Growth in the domestic sector was partially offset by a marginal decrease in the international sector. Passenger traffic in 2025 was primarily impacted by the global economic and political landscape and timing of aircraft delivery due to supply chain issues in the industry. To a lesser degree, extreme weather events, a single aircraft incident and an air carrier labour disruption contributed to final passenger volume. 2024 was also a leap year resulting in an extra day’s operations.

“Despite global shifts in travel and trade, Toronto Pearson grew passenger volume overall, reflecting our competitive position, and agility that enabled airlines to redistribute their routes and networks, in response to a changing landscape,” said Deborah Flint, President and CEO.

“2026 will entail more visible outcomes from the years of foundation setting of our strategy including LIFT,” added Ms. Flint. “We are building for the future where global connectivity is even more critical for prosperity in Canada.”

Toronto Pearson continues to monitor the global economic and political landscape closely, assessing risks and ready to adapt as ongoing tariff pressures create economic uncertainty.

Revenue for the year was $2,084.8 million, an increase of 5.5%, compared to the same period in 2024. The increase was primarily driven by changes in rates and fees and growth in aviation activity and passenger traffic.

Earnings before interest and financing costs, and amortization (“EBITDA”) for the year was $990.2 million, an increase of 5.5%, compared to 2024.  The increase in EBITDA was related to higher revenues associated with the increase in aeronautical fees and AIF partially offset by an increase in operating costs (before amortization). EBITDA Margin during the year was 47.5%, similar to last year.

The GTAA generated net income during the year of $366.1 million, an increase of 11.2%, compared to 2024, driven by the increase in revenues offset by the increase in expenses.

Free Cash Flow was $402.7 million, a increase of 5.6% compared to the same period in 2024 driven by higher cash flow from operations, partially offset by higher cash outflows related to capital expenditure, lower receipt of funds under the ACIP and higher net interest expense.
